No TV is complete without a surround sound system. In fact did you know that experts have said that movies are 80 percent sound? In the past movies and television were mainly two channel audio, now 99% of all movies use 5.1 or 7.1 dolby digital and television shows are quickly following the trend.
Its easy to see why, watch a television show with just tv speakers then watch the same tv show with a quality surround sound system and you will notice the difference. Not only the sound quality difference but also how it pulls you into the show or movie.
Surround sound systems can be installed into any home no matter what you may have heard. Also remember that speakers come in different shapes and sizes and unlike in the years past large box speakers are no longer necessary. In wall and In Ceiling speakers have brought new life to surround sound and because of these new types of speakers more and more homes are starting to enjoy better sound.
There are many different ways to setup your room for surround sound. In a ideal room you would have three speakers that are all in front of you. These are called the front left, center, and right speakers. They are the backbone of the surround system. You want to keep these speakers close to the same level as the television so the sound images correctly. Sound imaging is very important in a quality surround sound system. Sound imaging makes it seem like the voices are actually coming out of the persons mouth and the sound is not coming directly from the speaker itself. You want your system to blend with the room, not like the sound is just coming from the speaker.
The rear speakers are those that give you the effects. These need to be directly to your left and right. They can be above you in the ceiling, beside you in the wall.
Or ideally beside you on the wall. When you watching the football games these speakers actually make you feel like your part of the crowd. They are what make you duck your head when a plane comes flying in. They are the part that actually make surround sound FUN.
The last thing is you cannot forget a quality subwoofer. Elite AV personally believes a good sub woofer can make or break your surround sound system. Its not the amount of bass that matters, its the quality. Can your sub woofer handle large explosions or deep bass notes without distortion?
