What a mess!

Several times a year we tend to bite off more than we can chew. We had a couple in Plano, Texas call us and told us they had a system that was not working and that they needed help making it operational. They also wanted to add a wii.

Ends up the customer was forced into using a specific contractor that went out of business during the installation. They never finished the system and the customers could not get their money back. This was not a simple system to just come in and fix. It is a full video and audio distribution system with keypads and LCDs in every room that run back to a home location.

It is not that we cannot handle fixing this system. Our schedule right now is making it very difficult. We walked into the house ready to take on this project and saw this.

That is not what you want to see when you expected a basic reciever reinstallation and a very busy week planned. To say the least we were able to reschedule one job and get the system working perfectally.

It consisted of a

Escient DVDM100 Fireball
Sony 400 Disc Cd Player
3 Direct TV HD boxes

The customer was also trying to use 3 pronto txu3000′s which was the first thing to go.

Since it was a married couple with no kids we were able to condense the system down to a mx980 for the main room and a mx850 for the other 2 rooms. Everything is being controlled over RF and we have it all addressed to use one RF receiver and to control the correct component at the right time.

The first thing we decieded to do was pull everything out fo the closet. We were not sure how the previous installers installed everything and did not have the time to try to figure it out. We pulled all the cables out. Re tested all the wires and started hooking everything up piece by piece.

We then had to re program all 4 of the BNK keypads to operate with the new programming we did on the main video switcher.

Overall we were able to clean this system up nicely and make sure it would operate for years to come. It took about 2 days to pull everything out, reinstall it, and reprogram it all to work which really surpirsed us.

I was really surprised with the BNK video switcher. It operated very nicely and allowed for the customers to only have TV’s in each room and not have to worry about dvd, or cable boxes.
